Winks From the Universe

When I am really feeling grounded and religiously practicing feeling good and meditating I often have experiences that I call “Winks From the Universe”. Since it has become one of my favorite experiences I decided it would be nice to share them with you and hope that you have some of your own that you can share as well. So here are my most recent winks from the Universe:

Winks From the Universe ConsciousRose

Dragonfly flew right in front of me as I walked to class. I haven’t seen a dragonfly in a very long time and they have a special meaning to me. On that same day as I was walking from one of my classes a butterfly flew right alongside me. Growing up it seemed like I always saw butterflies – we even used to hatch them in our home – but as I got older I noticed that I don’t really see them anymore. Butterflies also have a special meaning to me and whenever I see one that is probably my favorite wink from the Universe.

I was contacted about a Freelance Writing opportunity right when I have “given up”. I believe you could say that I released resistance or surrendered. I noticed that when I do that – especially about something that is really frustrating me; I often have nearly instant relief and the winks from the universe really popping up all over the place.

Share with me your winks from the Universe in the comments below.

Mini Life Update: January 2016

January has been a wild month for me.

That may or may not be an understatement. It is almost as if the beginning of the month started with everything in my life being tossed into the air and I am just now having things slowly fall into place where they belong. There was a bit of crying and some anxiety during many of those days.

The first couple of weeks during the month I felt extremely overwhelmed. So much so I didn’t even know what to do or where to start. Now that things are falling into place I have been able to really focus on the things that are most important and release those things that no longer serve me. It has been refreshing. Kind of like a detox from the yucky stuff.

I have been working on a lot of different projects, however, I have also learned to only take on the ones that really speak to me. Sometimes you have to really ask yourself some serious questions about where you are headed and if what you are doing is going to get you there or not. I feel good about the decisions I have made and there is a sense of relief that I experience from pushing through and doing some of the things I almost let fear keep me from doing.

To help me “deal” with all the craziness I have been meditating a lot (not as often as I would like, but more often than I did last year) and it has made a world of difference. It just makes me feel energized, focused and “ready” for whatever comes next. I love to meditate early in the morning when it is cool and I can hear the waves or birds in the distance. So peaceful. I also meditate mid-day when I need to either calm myself or prepare myself for something. These tend to be quick (maybe 5-10 minutes) and can really be done anywhere – in your office chair, in your parked car during a break. Love it.

Another thing I have been doing is using affirmations and reading + listening to some of my favorite teachers. The people that inspire me. People like Oprah, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Abraham Hicks (Esther Hicks), Louise L. Hay and so on. It has been wonderful. They always help me to get my mind and soul in a wonderful feeling place.

I am going into February prepared for life to just happen. I also know that my thoughts and beliefs can steer me in the direction of my desires if I allow it. I am looking forward to what this new month has to offer me and I hope that you are as well. I have been in a very “glowing” place as I like to call it. I feel so much love and joy deep within me.

New Life Resolutions

I was on blogher recently (in between writing this post) and came upon a question about what my resolutions were for 2016. I don’t normally do New Years Resolutions anymore but I like to check in with myself every 4-6 months or so to see how I am doing with what I like to call my New Life Resolutions.

I’m all for setting goals and/or resolutions but I know how doing it at the beginning of every year can sometimes be stressful and puts a lot of pressure on you to really hit the ground running. By creating goals throughout the year (and breaking them up into smaller tasks) I noticed that I tend to get things completed more often.

New Life Resolutions are lists of goals and things I plan on accomplishing in the future – this can be little things or big things. I am a list maker and often break big goals up into smaller goals so I can check in and see how far I am.

I will check back in once I finish moving into my new place with what my New Life Resolutions for 2016 are but the most important things on my list at this moment are:

1) Increase income
2) Finish packing and moving into my new studio
3) Finish getting registered for my courses
4) Create a vision board

Here are some great ideas to get you started:
+ 8 lists to jump start the new year
+ January Goals

What are your current resolutions? How do you stay accountable?

Black Girl In Om Needs Your Support

Being such a huge supporter of meditation, self-care and yoga, I was immediately moved when I saw this Kickstarter project by Black Girl In Om. They are a small group of Black Women that have created a positive and uplifting community which includes an online publication as well as wellness sessions & gatherings such as yoga classes and meditation groups.

Watch the video below to find out more about them and their work.

Black Girl In Om (BGIO), is a lifestyle brand that promotes holistic wellness and inner beauty for women of color, is proud to announced our highly anticipated expansion. After a year of creating a space specifically designed to encourage self-care and self-love for communities of color in Chicago, we are eager to offer our vision to women of color all over the world. Through our online publication, a beautifully inviting social media presence and traveling assemblies, BGIO will establish a global community for an increasingly marginalized audience.

It is such a beautiful thing to watch people to build something that brings them joy and inspires others to live their best life. The women involved in it are passionate about their work and are making an impact on the world that I can only hope to do in my lifetime and I hope that they are beautifully blessed in all that they do.

Find out more about their project and show your support.

Sick & Tired

Updated on 11/5/2015: I actually found out that I had some Bronchitis in my lungs. Let’s just say 2015 really wants to go out with a bang. Trying to spend this recovery time relaxing, meditating and preparing for whatever else is coming my way.

Ever been sick & tired of being sick… and… tired? Well that is my current mood lately. It seems like if it is not one thing it is another. I have been dealing with illness/sickness off and on for over a year lately. I just pray that things finally just come together and I don’t have to worry about what the next thing is going to be.

At the moment I am fighting a horrible cold (possibly the flu which sucks and is annoying because I had my flu shot this year.) This is day 2 of feeling miserable and it felt like I was getting better but it actually got worse. I am going to the doctors in the morning to see if there is anything they can do to help me feel better at a quicker speed. I have been getting plenty of rest, drinking a lot of water, hot green tea with honey and had some gatorade earlier. I go from feeling extremely horrible to wanting to eat so much food (only to take a few bites and be over it.) The only medication I took was NyQuil in the evenings – tried to get someone to bring me some Theraflu but they couldn’t find any at the store.

I worked from home on Monday but was out yesterday and today and am so happy that my job allows this. Also, I was ahead in my classes so I’m not freaking out too much, however, I have a draft to finish working on tomorrow if I can muster up the energy to work on it. I have small amounts of energy here and there but thinking about anything serious is the last thing on my mind.

I’m so tired. I literally slept for 12+ hours and am STILL tired. I’m just letting my body rest whenever it wants to rest but I try not to allow myself to go into a deep sleep during the early evening because I don’t want my sleep schedule to be too crazy. I keep wanting to go to the gym but I can’t even get to the point of getting dressed for the gym and it probably is not the best idea to go work out during this time. I can’t wait to get my energy back!

So here is my rambling about my life about me being sick and tired. I hope that everyone is having a wonderful week and that all is well for you.

xoxo
